Meet Keegan

Keegan Doran is a 21-year-old Fire Fae, who lives in Kansas City, with her mom, best friend, Cara, and shape-shifting familiar, Áine. She has always wanted to know more about her people and the Fae homeworld, Tír na nÓg, but she has a secret. This secret, if it became known, would put her in serious danger due to an ancient, foreboding prophecy. So she lives her life, enjoying gymnastics and parkour with Cara, and attempting to handle Áine’s attitude, which is almost a full-time job.

When her mother’s health begins to deteriorate, Keegan begins to panic. The doctors can’t figure out what’s wrong, so now she needs to find a specialist. They have always struggled with money, trying to make do with her mom’s teacher salary and the little bit Keegan brings in with her waitressing gig, so there’s no way she can afford the specialist needed to help her mom.

She hatches a half-baked plan to “borrow” money from a poker tournament she heard about. With the reluctant help of her best friend and familiar, Keegan decides to do whatever it takes to help her mom.

When the super hot host of the poker tournament catches them in the act, and discovers her secret, she tries to talk her way out of trouble. But she soon discovers he has an equally devastating secret. Has she finally found someone else who knows what it’s like to hide in plain sight?

All of this leads to the beginning of an action-packed, often hilarious, sometimes dangerous journey. As they navigate their way forward together, they must find a way to keep their families, and their secrets, safe.
