Finding Silver Linings

So, I attended an event this past weekend. I sold two books in person and one online, I think. The expo hall was frigid, the ladies’ room was disgusting, and there was almost no outside traffic.

BUT.

I made some intriguing connections that I hope will lead to good things down the road. I got loads of compliments on my table setup. I acquired several new subscribers to my newsletter. Some of the other authors and vendors gave me their recommendations for future events. I spent several days with my mom, which I really enjoyed.

AND.

I discovered this particular event is not for me. Not everything in life will be for you, and sometimes that feels like a hard lesson. Because we want to be accepted and part of a community. But sometimes, forcing a square peg into a round hole turns out badly. Figuring out those places where you truly fit is *chef’s kiss. And trust me, that’s so much better than just okay.

So, I’m choosing the path of gratitude and will still count it as a win. But next time…I’d really like to sell some more books.
